Weekly discussions will be focused around topics like professional development, science and technology, workforce and family balance, ethics, and respect for others. Stemming from each of these five principles, the weekly events will focus on discussing and analyzing the societal problems at the intersection of technology and culture through a lens informed by spiritual philosophies.

Dr. Grayson is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan in Chemical Engineering. She has received numerous awards, such as the Robert Moiza Graduate Distinguished Service Award in 2016.
Dr. Grayson is extremely passionate about increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in STEM by illustrating that representation matters. She is the Diversity Chair for @women.doing.science, a popular Instagram account that showcases women in STEM from all over the world. Dr. Grayson continues doing advocacy work while redefining the image of what a scientist looks like.

On today’s episode of High-Tech Sunday, our hosts, Dr. Mark Vaughn and Lango Deen, sit down with the first African American pilot to fly with The Blue Angels, Capt. Donnie Cochran.
Capt. Cochran’s Navy career included duty as a fighter pilot, flying the RF-8G and F-14A & D from the decks of the aircraft carriers USS Nimitz, USS Coral Sea, USS Enterprise, USS Ranger and the USS Kitty Hawk. Cpt. Cochran was the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Fighter Squadron 111. Captain Cochran’s distinguished career also included two tours with the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (The Blue Angels).
Now, Capt. Cochran is a recognized expert and “motivational teacher” in both the military and business sectors, who inspires high-performance in individuals and organizations to achieve heightened and sustained performance in both their personal and professional lives.
Capt. Cochran has received many awards and honors including the Distinguished Graduate award from Savannah State University, selected Black Engineer of the Year for 1989, presented two Legion of Merit Medals, (3) Meritorious Medals, Navy Commendation Medal, Air Medal and numerous other awards and honors.

On today’s episode of High-Tech Sunday, Dr. Mark Vaughn and Lango Deen sit down with 2011 BEYA Scientist of the Year, Dr. Victor McCrary.
Vice President for Research and Graduate Programs at the University of the District of Columbia, Dr. McCrary leads the growth, development, direction, and oversight of the University’s research enterprise. He is a change agent and serial innovator, responsible for developing comprehensive, sustainable research strategies, fostering trans-disciplinary research and expanding research programs via engagement with federal and state agencies and private entities, including his significant contributions to Morgan State University becoming one of only 130 universities nationwide to have an R2 status in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
Dr. McCrary has authored and co-authored more than 60 technical papers and co-edited two books during his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. In October 2016, President Barack Obama appointed Dr. McCrary to serve on the National Science Board which oversees the National Science Foundation. He chaired a task force that recently produced the report, “The Skilled Technical Working: Crafting America’s Science and Engineering Enterprise."

On today’s episode of High-Tech Sunday, Dr. Mark Vaughn and Lango Deen sit down with 2010 Women of Color STEM Awardee and CCG Hall of Famer, Dr. Ruthie Lyle for a conversation on Invention Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Lyle is the first African American woman to earn a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering.
Dr. Lyle has distinguished herself as an Innovation Thought Leader. She has earned over 176 issued patents; and is believed to have the most inventions for any black woman in the world. Dr. Lyle successfully passed the Patent Bar and is a registered United States Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO) Patent Agent with credentials to prosecute patent applications before the USPTO. She is, perhaps, the first African American to hold the title of IBM Master Inventor and lead multiple IBM Enterprise Patent Review Boards.
Currently, Dr. Lyle is a Lead Research Engineer with USAA Chief Technology Office of Research. She explores emerging technologies and turns ideas into customized and new business solutions.

Dr. Bell is Global Director, Technology and Features Strategy and Planning at Ford Motor Company. Collaborating with key stakeholders, Dr. Bell establishes and communicates customer driven strategies that increase corporate growth in areas such as connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), driver assist technology (DAT), and robotics.
Dr. Bell’s proven delivery and technical excellence led to her receiving multiple patents and delivering many revenue generating 1st to Ford technologies including the award-winning Sync infotainment system, the fuel saving stop-start technology, and the first-to-industry MyEnergi Lifestyle project, in conjunction with Georgia Tech, projected a 60% energy cost savings and CO2 improvements of over 8,000 kg by incorporating key energy efficient solutions into an average U.S. home.
Donna’s involvement in the community is extensive and involves creating programs that educate and develop students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). She has held multiple leadership positions in professional organizations including National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Ford’s first employee resource group, FAAN (Ford African Ancestry Network).

Kendall's passions are people and education. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Fisk University. He is a Board Member of the College of Computing and Technology at Lipscomb University and the Jacki Joyner-Kersee Foundation. He serves as the STEM chair for the ScoutsBSA St. Louis region council and sits on the executive committee. He is a former board member of the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), and President of the Middle TN chapter of BDPA.

Rev Dr. Boyd is an engineer and is described as a dynamic and relevant leader, a prolific motivational speaker, a powerful preacher and a prominent advocate for STEM education. Boyd’s professional career of more than three decades at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory was highlighted by exemplary leadership and dedicated service as part of engineering teams.
Rev Dr. Boyd is a lifelong STEM advocate and community servant. in January 2014, President Obama appointed Boyd and 14 other individuals to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans.
For her many and varied contributions to the community, Rev. Dr. Boyd has received numerous honors, awards, citations, commendations and tributes. These include “Keys to the City” from 38 cities and a declaration of Gwendolyn E. Boyd Day in eighteen cities, just to name a few.
